3 in a row on 33rd Street

For the third year in a row, Drexel men's basketball defeated Penn to keep the "Battle of 33rd Street" trophy on the north side of Chestnut Street. Nothing like roughing up the Quakers to start the Thanksgiving break.

In addition to squashing them on the court, we completely destroyed them in all other facets of the game. Take rollouts for example; ours were witty and creative, while theirs were average and offensive.

DAC Pack Rollouts:
1) THE ONLY BASKET BERNARDINI IS GOING TO SEE TONIGHT IS FOR LAUNDRY
2) HOW LONG WAS 'THE LINE' THIS YEAR? 6 FEET?
3) Two lines:
PENN STUDENTS: HOME FOR THANKSGIVING

PENN BASKETBALL: DIDN'T SHOW UP THIS TERM

4) Two lines:
A.J. DREXEL: THE MAN WHO MADE WALL ST
WHARTON GRADS: THE MEN WHO DESTROYED IT"
5) Two lines:
MALCOLM WASHINGTON: SON OF THE 'MAN ON FIRE'

GLENN MILLER: MAN ABOUT TO BE FIRED"

Red & Blue Crew Rollouts:
1) "We are thankful this year for NOT having to play at the DAC."
2) "Water isn't the only thing that falls at Niagara."
3) Two parter.
Part 1: "Drexel, can you read this?"
Part 2: "Can you read ANYTHING?"
4) "Mario is a FLAMER."

We also won the battle on crowd size and energy. Even their student newspaper, The Daily Pennsylvanian agrees, writing, "The battle in the stands was more even, though Dragons fans outnumbered the home fans from the start of the game."

Thank you to everybody that came out to the game before going home for break. There are a few tournament games at the DAC on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (Vermont, Toledo and Cornell respectively) so if you're around Philly during your break, come on out to those games and help protect the home court advantage. You can get start times for each game by clicking here. If you're from outside the area, try to come back to campus early enough on Sunday to see the Cornell game as that will be the toughest of the three we play.
